Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile HyperSpeed är ett robust och kompakt speltangentbord.
So first I’ll cover the new design on the Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile. If you’ve seen or used Razer keyboards in the past, the Low-Profile is very similar to that of the original BlackWidow V4 Pro. But it comes with a far better overall layout despite its slimmer size, with several dedicated programmable macro keys as well as built-in features such as its volume roller and stainless-steel plate design. The Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile Hyperspeed is one of the better-designed keyboards overall if you can handle the smaller overall design and slimmer size.
The keyboard itself is incredibly sturdy overall and, unlike other keyboards, won’t go flying if the desk is knocked slightly. Given its smaller size, I was very surprised to see how heavy it is in relation to other keyboards. The Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile is easily one of the heavier keyboards on the market, which is amazing given its incredibly thin size as well as its small overall height (1.37 inches at its highest point overall).
While I love the design of the keyboard itself compared to other keyboards on the market, it does fall flat in some aspects. The keys themselves are incredibly hard to replace due to the keyboard not coming packed with a remover like many others do. It is also far louder than I had assumed, mostly due to the mechanical nature, and while there are different caps to choose from, it is not entirely well explained how to do so due to a lack of instructions being packaged within.
Razer Synapse 4
As with most companies in this day and age, particularly when it comes to computer and gaming setups, Razer comes complete with the Razer Synapse system of programs, I will go a little further into why I ended up not enjoying this set of programs as well the various issues I faced later in this review. However, as a set of programs itself the Razer Synapse system does give users effectively whatever they would want from a gaming keyboard, be it programmable macro keys, RGB lighting settings as well as the ability to set up AI related systems and profile
Razer Synapse itself is quite an extensive package; for ease of reading, I will break it down into the two main sections that users will most likely end up making use of; however, there are several other options that dedicated users may find enjoyable overall.
Razer’s 4th iteration of Synapse features all the classic modifications included within Synapse 3. While some may call it incredibly user-friendly and one of the best keyboard utilities out there, I will have to respectfully disagree. While Synapse 4 is fully backwards compatible with Synapse 3, allowing you to migrate your original profiles and setups over from previous keyboards, they don’t always work as intended. Sometimes the profiles themselves have issues registering despite logging into your accounts.
Negativity aside, the main key feature of Synapse 4 is its advanced customization options, allowing several different profiles and toggles to work seamlessly depending on what the user is doing at the current time. Are you deep into playing the latest shooter? The Gaming Mode can effectively render keys that would normally ruin the experience when accidentally pressed (Windows Key / Copilot) null and void; they can even be reprogrammed to other effects.
Speaking of programming keys, every key on the low-profile can be changed to whatever the user requires; with the 4 built-in macro buttons, you can quickly open any program you wish with the push of a button with no issue, which was a surprising feature when it worked correctly.
Along with the gaming mode, Synapse 4 also features the Hypershift setup, which in essence allows you to have a secondary set of responses set up for each key function on top of whatever existing function the key previously had.
You can go incredibly deep with the Synapse 4 system, and while it can be quite daunting at first, if users take the time to really learn and understand the system (despite the lack of instructions), you can be sure to find several built-in features and settings to cover whatever need you could ever have from a keyboard or any other Razer component included in your build.
Chroma RGB
The most important feature for gamers in this day and age may be the RGB features that keyboards can offer. The Chroma RGB comes with several different profiles at base to change the look and feel of the Razer BlackWidow V4 to whatever suits your needs. I was pleasantly surprised with how much was on offer from such a simple feature, from the individually colored keys to the pulsing waves that could be tinted and changed to whichever color I desired.
The dynamic lighting on Windows 11 as well as the Razer Chroma RGB integration for select games really took gameplay to the next level in terms of visuals. A simple feature of Chroma RGB, unlike the vast majority of Synapse 4, was very easy and enjoyable to use despite the issues I faced when attempting to save profiles, which I will mention briefly in the conclusion below.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile Hyperspeed is a solid keyboard with a somewhat inflated price tag. The keyboard itself has several very interesting functions that are sure to please any user seeking quick access to content or autonomy with its vast array of programmable keys.
That being said, as mentioned above, Razer Synapse for me was one of the worst experiences I’ve had when it comes to content included within a keyboard. I’ll briefly cover my issues with Razer Synapse, as it did turn me off the keyboard in general, and while I did make use of said keyboard to write this review, I will most likely go back to using another keyboard that isn’t so invasive program-wise.
An example of this: SteelSeries keyboards generally come with a small instruction pamphlet in their boxes that allows you to download the relevant program required to interact with the keyboard’s deeper functions. Note this is an option for most companies; Razer, however, does not do this. Not only are there no instructions included within the packaging itself, leaving you at base with a keyboard that just constantly spams the same RGB setup until it opens up a program (on its own) with no prompting that then gives you the option to download all the relevant Razer Synapse content required to make full use of the Razer Blackwidow, but for me that was an instant red flag, particularly on a keyboard that has programmable AI functions. I was not particularly happy that simply plugging in a keyboard forced something upon me without my consent.
This issue aside, as previously mentioned, the Razer Synapse program itself is very well designed; however, it is also riddled with issues and bugs that have appeared to have plagued this system for months now. For example, upon seeking the instruction pamphlet (due to it not being available with the keyboard itself), the link included within the program sent me to Razer’s own site, which returned an error 404 result, so I was unable to fully experience the Razer BlackWidow as intended and had to resort to watching YouTube videos or seeking older Reddit threads in order to learn just how to stop the RGB lighting system from resetting every single time I closed Razer Synapse (which, due to Razer Synapse profile systems not working as intended, still hasn’t been fixed).
If you’re looking for a well-designed gaming keyboard that will produce suitable results no matter your gaming needs and can handle a keyboard that’s not only incredibly thin in size but also very low in profile, the Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile Hyperspeed is a decent choice overall as long as you can stomach the multiple issues and invasive software that come with the whole Razer Synapse program system.
The keyboard is available in two sizes:
- Full Size keyboard
- TKL keyboard (tenkeyless) which misses the numerical part at right.
AI-genererad sammanfattning: Razer BlackWidow V4 Low-Profile HyperSpeed
